Valentine Disco Party

On 14th of February, our school organised a Valentine Disco Party! The IB students (Year 12 & 13) planned and initiated the party from buying the snacks to decorating the place where the disco was held. My job was to buy the foods like breads, cheese, hams for making sandwiches, chips, chocolate bars, drinks etc, and decorating the disco place. Also making a poster for younger students to join the party and have fun. The entire money rose from the party like non-uniform wearing payment, selling snacks and drinks will be donated to raise a guide dog. So I felt more responsible for participating in this activity and we bought lots of snacks and drinks for students to make sure that there are enough foods for them also we will raise the money from the party and able to gather money for the donation.
Also, as there isn’t much chance for the younger students to hang out with their friends, we paid extra attention on the decoration and the music for them to enjoy the party well and have fun. And since it was my last Valentine Disco, and last party that I will participate and work collaboratively with my friends in the high school, it was really meaningful and also felt proud when I watched the younger students enjoying and having fun in the disco.

Jogging

As the weather gets cold, instead of playing badminton every week as I planned, I ran every weekend. Every weekend, I ran 30 minutes and did stretching for 30 minutes. And when it’s even colder to go out, I used running machine at home to exercise. Because I’ve been exercise regularly and I didn’t want to break the regular plan, I’ve decided to do jogging. Unlike playing badminton, I got to move more around my place, and got to know what’s near my house as well.  I showed perseverance and commitment of regularly exercising and I planned and initiated jogging.

Weather Club

As we started New Year 2012, we bought the new equipments for the weather club measuring. As we did last year, we measured maximum, minimum, and current temperature with cloud cover, precipitation and air pressure. I showed perseverance and commitment of measuring for the weather club and I was working collaboratively with my partner.

Badminton

In September and October, I managed to play badminton outside. For my health and for sisterhoods relationship, me and my sister played it and sometimes with my parents as well. Because I didn’t exercised much before, I felt really hard at the beginning of few weeks. However as times goes, I got used to it and I thought playing badminton caught two birds with one stone; regularly exercising and having fun with my sister.

Before regularly exercising, I thought when I exercise, I will make me more tried and stressful, but it turned to be not. In fact, I was more awake whole day and I felt my body became much lighter. As playing badminton, I planned and initiated activity and also showed perseverance and commitment of playing it regularly.

Donation to Orphanage

As I planned to visit the orphanage, I tried to visit the children even though I can’t communicate with them well. However, the orphanage visiting day was on the Christmas Eve and because I wasn’t in Moscow that day, I donated my clothes. The plan was to visit the children in orphanage and give them some Christmas gifts. Although Russia’s isn’t 25th of December, we still planned to visit on that day. Unfortunately, I couldn’t go, (and even if I could, I won’t be able to communicate with them so I just had to give them presents) and I had to ask someone else who’s going there to take my clothes for them. And I received thanks from them later. I planned and initiated activity which was to help the orphanage and I also showed working collaboratively with others to help the orphans.

End of Year Party

On 16th of December 2011, our school had our last event in 2011 which was the end of the year party! It was more like a Christmas party but as we are in international school with lots of different religion, we didn’t call it as ‘Christmas party’. Year 12 & 13 (the IB students) organised it from buying/selling the foods, decorating/cleaning the place, playing the music for dance-time, selling Christmas hats which also goes to charity for raising the guide dogs, etc. We also organised a little fun time, sing karaoke in every year group. Every one of the students participated and it was really please to see them. I was working collaboratively with others to run the party and have fun.

Jumble Sale

On 25th of November, Year 12 & 13 held an event “Jumble Sale” to raise the money for the charity. “Jumble Sale” is an event where people donate their not-used things like CD’s, dolls, clothes, etc and we sell them to other people to make money from it. Year 12 & 13 made posters to notice other students to bring their not-used things and also to tell that the money made from it goes to the charity of raising the guide dogs. From this event, we raised about 3000 rubbles and we will be collecting 27000 rubbles from other events.
From this event, both students who donated and students who bought the things in cheap prize increased our awareness areas for growth of sharing: “One man’s trash is other man’s treasure”. And I, as personally, worked collaboratively with others and I engaged with issues of global importance and consideration of ethical implications like reusing the things.

Maths Club

Since the beginning of the year, I’ve joined the Maths club every Wednesday afternoon. It is only for the Year 13 higher level students. Although it is compulsory for the all year 13 maths higher level students, we enjoy the club, we ask questions which we don’t understand and we also learn our options topic. I showed perseverance and commitment of attending the club every week, I worked collaboratively with others, also increased awareness of areas for growth.
